Conditions Treated

Chronic pain is the pain that persists beyond the time of healing or pain associated with diseases in which healing does not take place. If any pain persists beyond more than 3 – 6 months, it is defined as chronic pain. Acute pain that occurs with any injury similar to fracture, bruising etc, improves when fracture heals, or bruising improves. Acute pain serves a purpose – warning that there is danger. Contrast to that, in most of the chronic pain conditions, pain does not mean there is danger. Chronic pain can occur without any obvious cause.

Chronic pain is a common problem around the world. It is estimated that around 3 – 5 % wold population suffers with chronic pain. This equates to nearly 1.5 billion people. Chronic pain has several impacts in the sufferer’s life including financial, work and family related problems and psychological issues. Some examples of chronic pain are chronic low back and neck pain, shoulder, knee and hip pain associated with arthritis, chronic headache, chronic abdominal pain, chronic pelvic pain, pain following stroke, nerve injuries or chicken pox.
